The Allied Delmarva Enhancement
Program for Teachers
- A grant-funded program of graduate math content courses for
inservice math teachers, with a middle school focus (particularly
elementary-certified teachers).
- Tri-state: Twelve counties on the Eastern Shore of Maryland ( 9
counties in MD, 1 in DE, 2 in VA)
- Collaboration between Salisbury University
Mathematics and Education Department with Local Education Agencies.
- Unified program of 8 courses, offered for grad. credit
- Six courses funded by National Science Foundation (NSF), 2 courses
funded by Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC). In third year
of NSF grant, then on-going.
- Courses are Math content courses, but pedagogy
is modeled/integrated. Content is linked to the middle school
curriculum:
- By the design of the syllabus topics/content
- By incorporating/modeling best-practices pedagogy
- Assessment; informal feedback; ADEPT faculty interactions with
the Teaching Assistants (usually K-12 resource teachers or teachers)
- Via the Modified Lesson Plans (MLP) assignments
