Concluding Remarks:

Suggestions:

For science faculty:

Give it a try! Try also inter-disciplinary (e.g. writing in math and links to biology -- Math 107 last semester: Probability and Genetics)

For non-science faculty:

What is the relevance to you of writing in math/science classes?

Reverse it: Why not put some (or more) math/data into non-science course assignments/reports?

A skill demanded in the "Real World" is: being able to combine writing/analysis with mathematical/numerical information in a coherent fashion.

. Numbers, functions, and graphs alone often are not convincing enough (nor, sometimes, even comprehensible without context).

. Written analysis without these, often not precise enough to be convincing (particularly in an increasingly information-based world).

.Today's world often demands both!
